An Interfaith Ministry of Shelter for Homeless Women
For the past 5 years, we as a parish have been active in “Room In The Inn,” an interfaith, emergency nighttime shelter program for women. Host churches provide space for a week at a time for up to 12 women to sleep safely off the streets. Partnering with two host churches (Trinity Episcopal and Jubilee!), St. Lawrence provides meals for the women and logistical coordination for 14 nights per year, as well as financial support for the program.
Various groups in the parish—the Adult Choir, the Vine - our Young Adult group, Saint Lawrence Youth groups, Community Ministries, the Knights, and the Catholic Daughters—take turns preparing the dinners.
Our volunteers plan and shop for the breakfasts and lunches, coordinate the dinner volunteers, and work closely with the Room In The Inn team and the host churches to make sure our evenings run smoothly.
