The Basilica receives thousands of visitors each year. Our team of Docents are well versed on the history, art, and architecture of the Basilica. They often dispel misconceptions regarding the Catholic Faith and often provide the first glimpse of Catholicism to our visitors. Tours are given after most Sunday Masses. During the week, tours are scheduled by appointment. Being a docent is a wonderful way to serve the parish and the community at large.
Homebound Ministry
This ministry is comprised of a group of Extraordinary Ministers of Communion who reach out to parishioners who are hospitalized, homebound, in assisted living or are terminally ill. Usually on a weekly basis, they take the Eucharist to those unable to participate in Mass or devotions. At present there are twelve ministers taking the message of God’s love in over 1400 visits a year. Visits are assigned when the person or family contacts the parish office. The time and frequency of visits are determined by the parishioner and the minister together. The schedules can be flexible and ministers can have one or more homebound parishioners to visit as their time allows.
