Basilica Wedding Directors

One of our Basilica Wedding Directors is responsible for and required to direct all rehearsals and wedding ceremonies at the Basiilica of Saint Lawrence. They have directed many weddings and have worked with many local priests and deacons as well as visiting clergy.
 

• Rehearsals for 2pm weddings begin at 3:30 p.m. on the Friday before the wedding
• The couple will meet with the Wedding Director in the parish office 30 minutes prior to the wedding rehearsal to go over the rehearsal plans.
• Rehearsals must be completed in 1 hour due to other Basilica events. It is very important that the wedding party be on time to prevent any delays as this will shorten the rehearsal time.

Two months prior to the wedding date the couple will submit a Wedding Director Questionnaire.  It provides all the information needed by the Wedding Director to prepare for the Rehearsal. (Wedding Director assignments are made several months prior to the wedding date depending on staff schedules.)

Based on the completed questionnaire, the Director works with the Celebrant to conduct the Rehearsal. As stated above, the couple meets with one of the Directors in the parish office 30 minutes prior to the Rehearsal to review the rehearsal plans together. Celebrants and Wedding Consultants may also attend this meeting.

The "Wedding Party" may include Special Seated Guests (grandparents, parents, etc.), Bride and Groom, Bridesmaids and Groomsmen, Flower Girl and Ring Bearer, Ushers, Lectors, Readers, and Eucharistic Ministers. It is very important that the rehearsal begin on time and that all in the wedding party are present whenever possible. Due to the Basilica's busy schedule, wedding rehearsals must be completed in one hour. Please plan accordingly when making "after rehearsal plans." 

The Director will be on-site at least one hour prior to the start of the ceremony to oversee its details and to assist the Celebrant and Wedding Party.
